Carol Mel Café. I was surprised to see a sudden influx of cafes in the Tai Seng Area as I had always associate this place to be an industrial estate. One of the new openings at Tai Seng along the outer rim of The Commerze building is a quaint cafe selling cakes and breakfast / lunch foods to the working crowd in the area. It has a cosy and homely setting.  Folks working around this area should check them out as their menu is Ipoh-inspired home recipes passed down from generations.

My business partner and I sampled their cafe latte ($4.90), iced café mocha ($6.90) and shared a chocolate mousse cake ($7.50). 

The chocolate cake was rich and moist with a crispy base (flavour is reminiscent of the fruity pebbles cereal) which went really well together, giving the soft creamy filling mousse some body.

I do like the Iced Mocha too as it’s sweet and can taste a tinge of chocolate flavour mixed inside the mocha drink. Those who prefer a stronger coffee taste might not like this version though.  My partner who drank the latte said it was just an average cup of coffee.

Prices were on par or slightly more than neighbourhood cafes.  If you are looking for a decent café at The Commerze, do give Carol Mel a try.
