House of Commons is a fairly new establishment along Owen road that took over the previous shop space of Cakes Literally. We were actually in search of some good cakes from Cakes Literally but didn’t realized that the owner had closed her retail front.

While contemplating if we should give this new café a try , my partner saw the “La Marzocco” Machine and yes, we stepped in! Oooo! Owner Raj was very friendly and explained to us about the recycled items he used to decorate his café. He used old “roasted” coffee beans to embellish the tables and transformed recycled coffee bean bags into picture frames and lined them along the wall. The décor was kept simple and woody and definitely pleasing to the eye.

Back to the coffee! We ordered a Double shot long black($4.20) and a salted caramel cake($6.50) to share. The long black was good. Bitter enough yet smooth with no sour after taste. The texture of the cake was nice but the salted caramel frosting was too much for me towards the end. It will be great if you have a few friends to share it with. One good thing is that they kept their prices really decent.

Coffee lovers, you have to come down and pay them a visit. I am glad that I had found some lovely cafes with good coffee these past few weeks.
