Starting a coffee shop?: Free Cafe Setup cost Calculator
Opened by former employees of Penny University, you can see the slight resemblance in the setting and décor of the place. It was pretty cramped and the furniture were placed close to each other. During a weekday lunch, the place was packed and the whole place sounded like a canteen.
If you are looking for a quiet place to pen down your thoughts or to have a nice chat with your companions, this might not be the ideal place. Service was pretty slow and our orders were not served together. It was quite a considerable time lapse from the first drink to the last order that was served. I am not too sure if it’s because they are still very new or there’s a lack of manpower. But in this area, service needs to improve.
It was a pretty hot day so most of us ordered cold drinks. Iced Mocha($6), Iced Chocolate($5.50) , San Pellegrino($4) and 3oz white coffee($4) and a sweet waffle with fruits, chocolate sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream($9.50). I liked the iced chocolate the most! Initially, there wasn’t enough chocolate and it’s just mainly milk but after the feedback to the counter staff, they changed the drink and it was just the right taste. It had a good balance between chocolate and milk and the chocolate was good. White coffee had a fruity taste and it’s slightly sour. It’s not really my cup of tea but my friend liked it and said it was good. Iced Mocha was pretty normal.
The waffles were surprisingly quite good. Batter was light and the waffles were crisp and thin. It went well with the good quality fruits with yum chocolate sauce. Ice- cream was average but it complements the waffles well.
I will pop back for the iced chocolate and waffles again but only during off-peak timing. I like my café time to be quiet and peaceful.
