National Coffee Association
Why am I asking that? This is because the latest results released by Nation Coffee Association indicated that the majority of coffee drinkers are the young person.
Lets look at the statistics then my $0.02 on its implications.
The drinkers: There is an overall increase of about 10% point for both the 18-24 and the 25-39 segment of coffee drinkers when it comes to coffee consumption.
People are drinking more coffee daily.
The Coffee: The coffee of choice remains to be gourmet coffee, i.e. espresso, cappuccino etc.
The venue: While it used to be out of home consumption, more people are saying that they consumed their coffee in their home.
The systems: The single serve has a better perception compared to a couple of years ago. A staggering 20% of increase in more positive views of the single serve coffee maker.
My $0.02The group that make up of most of the coffee drinkers are the professionals, folks with the most earning powers.
The trend of cafe and coffee shop are dipping according to the survey, and that is not surprising, given the lackluster performance of Starbucks and the many outlets that it has closed.
More people are drinking coffee in home. Again, not surprising, given the high sales volume of companies like Keurig, Nespresso and even Starbucks Via.
Single serve is being "singled" out and used as benchmark. Just that alone can be seem as a testimony of how important single serve coffee maker is to the whole coffee market.
But, much more that -they are growing, enjoying organic growth in the midst of one of the worst financial crisis and on top of that, people like them more.
Soon, single serve coffee maker would be everywhere, one genre of coffee makers would followed the path of percolator and vacuum coffee maker, and end up as an artifact of time, is a matter of which.
