Coffee has always been my engine, the alarm clock from my morning daze after I've technically woken up. Usually on the way to work, I will make a pit stop at Starbucks where I know the waitress who typically works there at that time and I'll tip her generously when she works since she knows my order. But a colleague of mine recently took me over to Village Roaster which, just from the very entrance it was obvious that the coffee was far superior. I felt bad not having the staff know my order, but having a genuine roaster and the general atmosphere of a smaller coffee chain was so much more fulfilling. If I had been smart enough to check out the coffee makers at both locations and compare the coffee maker ratings, perhaps I would have avoided Starbucks completely and thus never suffered the dilemma of the nice server.
