Ion and Wheelock Place are both one of the Top 5 malls in Singapore. They are close to each other, in fact they are just a linkway away from each other, as their basements are connected.

However, both malls offers great variety and vast differences in retail, food and beverage, and services stores. While Ion has significantly more choices, from salads, churros to baked cheese tarts; Wheelock Place offers Marks & Spencers cafe, and other offers such as sushi, and hongkong restaurants.

This might be the reason why the traffic flow of both malls during the dinner time, peak hour was vastly different. In comparison, Ion had more consumers, milling about the mall and close to every single eatery had queues, and customers waiting. 

As Ion offers a greater variety of food choices at their mall, which would thus drive people to go to their mall during the dinner peak hours.
