espresso makers are facing stiff competition from a particular genre of machines -single cup coffee machine, so it is not surprising to see companies coming out with their own single serve version.
So, I was not surprised when illy released her own version of single serve coffee maker, I was just surprised that they make it so affordable. For those that operate cafe, you know that espresso maker from illy is not really in the bottom rung pricing.

How to brew using a coffee sock?
These methods are featured in our coffee courses.
Known as the iperespresso machine or francis francie x8, this is a single cup brewer that uses its own proprietary capsule, it is quite similar to nespresso.
Being an espresso machines, illy would first ensure that this machine has at least 15 bar pressure. Then, like many of its espresso makers, it comes with an easy to read LED display guide for user, a good size tank that does 20 servings and a thermal block that is essential to get good cappuccino.
Personally, what I like about this iperespresso machine is the little details that it has taken care of. Such as the adjustable cup tray that allows you to use any size of espresso cup and my favorite is the auto-frothing "pannarello" that allows you to make other than espresso coffee, quality cappuccino and latte.
Being a single cup brewer, all you need to do is to insert the capsules into the iperespresso, turn the dial and in less than 30 seconds you would get to enjoy a hot espresso drink.
I know some of you must be wondering when would I mentioned the price, well, for all the above, which can cost more than $500, illy is doing a special at the time of this writing for only $150.
This is because they are more interested in selling their coffee than their mahine and to enjoy this low pricing, all you need to do is to join their illy a casa member where a monthly order of coffee would be delivered to you.
The loop hole I was think is, they allow people to cancel their membership anytime. Which means, I can first sign up for the membership, enjoy the discounted francis francis x8, then cancel the membership the following month.
Then again, we know that people that purchase espresso makers are really interested in coffee, so chances are not many people would do that. Do not know how long this offer would be, but regardless, this iperespresso is a good machine to use and for getting quality coffee...
