Fika refers to a social institution in Sweden; it means having a break with one's colleagues, friends, date or family, most often a coffee break with pastries or sandwiches.
Here at Fika cafe, you'll expect to find the simple Swedish charms of a quiet and idyllic bistro cafe. This isn't a pretentious nor over the top cafe but just a humble one with a relaxed setting inspired by northern European décor. Their friendly service and warmth will also win you over.
I tried the Budapest Roll ($7.90). If you’re not into cakes, this roll is pretty special as it’s a combination of Mango, Meringue, chocolate sponge and almond bits at the top. It doesn’t have the heaviness and creaminess of a typical cake but what you will find is a well calibrated combination of chocolate and fruity flavor all in one in this roll.
Best of all, this is a Halal café and it will be great place for me to meet my muslim friends. I will be back to try out their Swedish food soon. Do note that they have two other branches at Arab Street and Millenia Walk as well.
