While walking down East Coast Road to long-time famous Katong Laksa, I happened to chance upon a black board sign screaming “Half Price Pasta” placed outside Holqa café. That put me in a dilemma. Should I continue with my laksa or should I try out a new café?  Half price pasta sounded too good a deal to miss so I chose to visit Holqa.

Situated behind a bus stop opposite Roxy square, Holqa café can be easily spotted.

As I stepped into the café, I was greeted with warm smiles. The whole place exuded a very homely feel. With soft old school country music playing in the background, it lightened my mood immediately. Vintage stuff was displayed all around the café but what caught my eye were the vintage photography items. Oh I love vintage cameras!

I ordered their iced white crème brulee coffee ($5.50) and I have to say the drink was quite refreshing. Those who can't really take strong coffee might probably love the white crème brulee. The fragrance was there but the coffee taste was mild.  

Since it was "Half Price Pasta" day, I had their Asian pull pork pasta (@$7.45), which was one of their signature dishes. It took quite some time for the pasta to be served but it was worth the wait. I seriously relished that pasta. The pulled pork had a strong herb and garlic taste too which I liked very much.

'You can't end a good meal without dessert!' Running through the desserts on the menu, the paddle pop frenzy ($5.90) caught my eye.  The young at heart may probably remember the once famous colourful Paddle Pop ice cream. Check out Holqa’s version of paddle pop ice-cream cum chocolate mousse cake served with marshmallows, it’s a pretty dessert.  

Holqa café is definitely a place which I will re-visit. I will definitely recommend this café to all café hoppers!
