If you don’t venture around this part of Ang Mo Kio, you might miss out on this precious gem located at AMK Avenue 10, where one will least expect to find an award-winning cosy cafe here.

With its English style interior decoration and concept, it is truly a stark contrast to the row of traditional old shops situated there. Established since 1967 in Hitchins, United Kingdom, their award-winning fish and chips has made its way to food lovers in Singapore.

At Murphy's, you get to enjoy and savour their English food menu which the chefs take pride in preparation. Don’t forget their awesome home-baked style cakes! There's even a corner for book exchanges, initiated by the National Library Board.  Wall clocks on display are specially flown in from UK during visits to the owner's other cafe in Hitchins. They are getting big crowds in on Fridays to Sundays after getting much publicity and 'shouts' by word of mouth and social media.

After a filling lunch at Nakhon at AMK, I couldn’t take in any more main course so I tried their desserts. Desserts are specially made by a home bakery in Singapore. 

 Summer Berry Yoghurt Tart ($6.50) tasted light and refreshing, with a strong yoghurt taste that is not very sweet. Served on a pretty English style floral plate, you will not be disappointed with this yoghurt tart.

Chocolate Truffle ($6.50) is a heavenly treat for chocolate die-hard fans. It’s absolutely delicious though it was a little too rich for me. I loved the crunch from the crisp layer at the bottom. It’s highly recommended for those who love everything chocolate!

 I will be back to try the award-winning fish and chips though.  It looked so yummy and I am still thinking about it even as I write this.
