Truly grandma's recipes and all things natural at the Old School Delights, owned by siblings Olivia and Aaron. Though this would attract the baby boomers more, nothing stops the younger crowd from strolling in for a drink, enjoy some of grandma's cooking or just chilling out and eat cakes baked fresh daily in-house with no artificial preservatives and flavours. Whichever you try, the food recipes are all laboriously done from scratch. Its prices are relatively higher than commonplace hawker centres but you get to enjoy your food in a casual, comfortable setting.
This cafe invokes tremendous amount of memories of old classrooms settings and things used in the past like chalkboards on both sides of the wall, classroom style furniture, exercise books for their menu. You will be delighted to find candies, biscuits, cute little toys like 5 stones and capteh from your childhood era (70s and 80s) for sale at Old School Delights.
For an earth-shattering experience (Yes, I might be exaggerating!), try their hot seller chocolate banana fudge cake ($6.20)! Made from fresh mashed bananas infused into a double layered banana cake, and slathered with chocolate fudge goodness, it is exquisitely calibrated at each layer. One bite is definitely not enough and it’s really quite good.
Old School Mocha-Cinno ($4.90) is a lethal combination of malt chocolate, roasted black coffee and thick frothy milk served in a glass jar. It was excellent and gave me a bitter-sweet experience with a frothy top.
Overall, it’s a good place to visit and to bring the whole family along. Prices are kept reasonable and service is good as well not to mention the cakes and drinks are yummy too.
