Like many hidden gems, Oliva is tucked away in the Kampong Glam district. As you step in, the setting really transports you to a whole new world, truly Italian, a stark contrast to the outlook from the rest of the shops along Arab Street.  With black high back chairs, the ambience exudes a contemporary casual grandeur feel, everything spick and span and neatly in place, from wall displays, curtains, flooring to the whole interior decoration.  

This romantic café cum restaurant serves excellent food and is a nice dinner haunt for couples and office workers.  Looking further on the menu, one might overlook the modest selection of cakes, but to my surprise, they were as great and inspirational.

I tried the homemade flourless chocolate cake. It came with a single scoop of ice-cream with some cut strawberries and strawberry sauce over the vanilla ice-cream. Though the serving is small, it’s just right for a hearty dessert.

Tiramisu is a highly recommended cake at Oliva as it’s flavour is rice yet the texture is light and fluffy. The amount of alcohol is also of a good amount to give the right punch in the overall taste.

 My total bill for the desserts was $17.40 which I find is a reasonable price to enjoy my cakes with my partner in a romantic setting.
